Sources, licences & method
WarMap shows only data we are allowed to reuse. Every event links its source and shows a confidence level. We do not copy DeepStateMap, Liveuamap or ISW data.

Confidence
Multiple sources: UCDP coded the event from 2 or more reports. Single source: one report. Heat detection: satellite thermal anomaly with no attribution. Location precision comes from UCDP (exact → country level). N outlets · auto-coded: a GDELT media report, machine-coded from news articles and unverified. Reports from the same day, ~25 km area and attack type are grouped, and 3 or more distinct outlets gives a higher label. Attack types (drone, missile, airstrike, shelling, naval…) are inferred from source text or CAMEO codes.
GDELT 2.0 Events
Media-report layer for the last 30 days, updated every 15 min. Source: The GDELT Project, open use with citation. Casualties are not taken from GDELT.
Frontlines
WarMap v1 draws no frontlines. We have the tooling to publish versioned, cited lines reviewed by two editors, and will only use openly licensed or our own sourced work.
Not yet live
ReliefWeb (needs an approved appname), HDX displacement datasets (licence checked per dataset), official government and military feeds (to be labelled as claims), ADS-B (ADSB.lol, ODbL, under review).
